Hello world!
My name is Torsten and I am 32 – so I can just about still call myself a child of the 80s, even if I did not consciously experience them 🙂 Like some other colleagues I do not come from the city with the K but from the city with LEV: that is where I was born and, since my teenage years, which were an incredibly long time ago, that is where I live again.
Because of my ties to Leverkusen I am also a big supporter of Bayer 04. Until the age of 15 I played actively in a club myself, but had to realise that my talent was unfortunately not pronounced enough to start a great career with it. So I prefer to watch the lads on the pitch trying to kick the ball – something I have been doing regularly since the age of 10. Basically I am a very sport-loving type who not only enjoys going to football but also follows other sports live. That is why in recent years I have been to the tennis at the French Open in Paris and to the darts world championship in London …
Travelling is also among my interests – I consider myself very lucky to have been able to discover new places again and again over the past ten years. Every destination has its own particular charm and is special in its own way. I am grateful to have been able to get to know impressive places such as London, New York, Cuba or Ireland and, with them, different cultures. I have worked for SKO since 2007 and can therefore call myself the longest-serving employee – in second place comes my colleague Carsten, who started only a short time later.
A “fun fact” on the side: Carsten & Torsten have not only worked for SKO for a very long time, they also belong to the elite circle of the “Stens” – a Sten rarely comes alone, and guess what Sten stands for. Besides the two of us there are only two more Stens: Kirsten and Kersten.
- Is your name Kirsten or Kersten, are you looking for a new professional challenge and do you want to work in a young, motivated team? Then apply at bewerbung@sk-office.net – I will definitely put in a good word for you!
During my long time at SKO I have been able to learn a great deal and have also developed as a person. In everyday life I would not necessarily describe myself as introverted, but certainly as a shy personality – and that is how it was at SKO at the beginning too. By now that is of course different. Over the years the number of employees at SKO has multiplied enormously, and I have been able to train one colleague or another and share my knowledge – which meant that I got to know myself anew and noticed how much I enjoy discovering and developing employees' potential.
Coronavirus, or “Conora” as my grandma calls it, has been with us for almost exactly a year now. Personally I will not call it a lost year, because a) it is up to me to make the best of it, even if that is getting hard by now, and b) during coronavirus I married my wife Annika, whom you will certainly get to know as well 🙂 But of course I really miss not being able to go to the stadium on Saturdays, and above all I miss my friends even more – I would love to simply have a nice beer with them again 🙂
So I remain optimistic and hope that in the medium term we will be able to lead a normal life again – whether that is a visit to the stadium, discovering new places, a tasty burger or a delicious pasta at our clients' places, or simply a pleasant get-together with friends or colleagues …
